Getting Around Paphos — Your Complete Transport Guide

One of the best things about staying in Kato Paphos is how easy it is to get around. The harbour, archaeological sites, restaurants and beaches are all within walking distance of the apartment. But when you want to explore further — Coral Bay, the Akamas Peninsula or even Limassol — you have plenty of options. Here's everything you need to know about transport in Paphos.

Walking — The Best Way to Explore Kato Paphos

Kato Paphos is remarkably walkable. From the apartment, most major attractions are within a 10 to 15 minute walk. The streets are generally flat, well-lit and pedestrian-friendly, especially along the coastal promenade.

Walking tip: The coastal promenade from the harbour towards Tombs of the Kings is one of the most scenic walks in Paphos. It's completely flat, paved, and especially beautiful at sunset. Perfect for an evening stroll after dinner.

Public Buses — Affordable and Reliable

The OSYPA bus network covers Paphos district well and is one of the cheapest ways to get around. A single ride costs just €1.50 (day) or €2.50 (night, after 21:00). You can also buy a day pass for €5.00 if you plan multiple trips.

The nearest bus stops to the apartment are on Apostolou Pavlou Avenue and Poseidonos Avenue, both within a 3-minute walk.

Key routes you'll find useful:

Bus tip: Download the OSYPA Paphos Bus app or check pafosbuses.com for live schedules and route maps. Buses run less frequently on Sundays and public holidays, so plan accordingly.

Car Rental — Freedom to Explore

If you plan to explore beyond Paphos — the Akamas Peninsula, Troodos Mountains or other cities — renting a car is the way to go. Several agencies are located on Poseidonos Avenue, just minutes from the apartment.

What to expect:

Important — left-hand traffic! Cyprus drives on the left side of the road (British system). If you're used to driving on the right, take it slow on your first day. Roundabouts can be confusing at first — traffic already on the roundabout has priority. The motorways are excellent and well-signposted in both Greek and English.

Free parking at the apartment: One major advantage of staying at Lovely Ap is the complimentary private parking space right at the building. In Kato Paphos, where parking can be tricky during summer months, this is a genuine benefit. No circling blocks, no parking fees, no stress.

Bike Rental — Explore at Your Own Pace

Cycling is becoming increasingly popular in Paphos, especially with the growing number of e-bike rental options. The coastal road is flat and pleasant, making it ideal for two-wheeled exploration.

Cycling tip: Avoid cycling on main roads during rush hour (7:30-8:30 and 13:00-14:00). Stick to the coastal promenade and dedicated paths where possible. Always carry water — the Cyprus sun is relentless even in spring.

Day Trips by Car from Paphos

With a rental car, the entire island opens up. Here are the most popular day trips with approximate driving times from the apartment:

Day trip tip: For Troodos and Akamas, start early (by 8:00 if possible). The mountain roads are narrow and winding, and you'll want plenty of time to stop at viewpoints and villages. Pack a picnic — mountain tavernas can be few and far between.

Getting to and from the Airport

Paphos International Airport (PFO) is just 15km southeast of the apartment. Here are your options:

Airport tip: If you're departing on an early morning flight, we recommend booking a taxi the evening before. Bolt availability at 4:00 AM can be unpredictable. We're happy to help you arrange this.

Free Parking Included
